Thi Speaking ở IDP Mạc Đĩnh Chi cách âm khá kém. Phòng bé, mà 5-6 phòng xếp thành chữ U ý. Mình phòng 3 là ở góc vuông, nghe câu hỏi xong mà im lặng là nghe gk phòng kế bên luôn. Giám khảo tên Pierre hay Peter gì ấy, cũng thân thiện mà thỉnh thoảng cau mày ko rõ lý do. Không ngắt nhưng mà mình nói khá nhanh với ngắn, nên chắc cũng có gì để ngắt. Thi 9h sáng khá buồn ngủ, mình chỉ nhớ 1 phần những gì mình trả lời hôm đó, để mọi người tham khảo.
Còn máy thi Listening, Reading, và Writing là máy tính bàn, bàn phím to khá dễ đánh, tai nghe rõ, dễ chịu. Có bịt tai. Log-on sheet của Reading và Listening là chung nên bạn nào quen ghi chép note chắc sẽ ko đủ giấy để ghi.

P1: Hometown
Where is your hometown?
- I was born and raised here in HCMC.
What is your hometown famous for?
- for being a melting pot. We have expats, tourists, and foreigners coming from all over the world to work and to settle down here. Also, the gastronomy is top-notch. Most cities I've been to have nothing on what we do and have here.
Do you know the history of your hometown?
- Not really. I was sent to another country when I was in my teenage years, so I didn't get to study much about the history of my country, let alone this city. But I know that HCMC was named after the founding father of this city.
Mobile phone:
How often do you use your mobile phone?
- Everyday. I use it for the most frivolous things to the more serious things. I think I'm lowkey addicted to my phone, which I think is as unhealthy as it gets.
Can you tell me some places where you shouldn't use your phone?
- In the cinema or the theater. I think it's obnoxious and downright rude to have your phone lit up while everyone else is trying to watch a movie or a play. Even worse, I've seen some people actually talking on the phone when the movie's already on. I think it's a very punchable behavior. So there's that. Oh, or when you're in class.
Do you send text messages?
- Yeah, I do, mainly to my mom, some friends here and there, my partner when he's away.
Do you like to take selfies?
- No, not really. I'm very self-conscious. I just don't like taking pictures of myself or people taking pictures of me.
Do you take pictures with your phone?
- Yes, of my dog mostly. He's very adorable and he does a lot of silly things. That's why I always have my phone ready just so that I can take pictures of him and show people.
Can you tell me about your favorite family photo?
- It's a selfie I took with my mom when we visited Greece 2 years ago. We were visiting the most iconic village of Santorini, sorry but the name slipped my mind, but one thing I remember is that it was full of blue and white houses.
Do you want to improve your photography skill?
- Not really. I majored in Fashion Design when I was in uni and I had to learn a lot about photography to do photoshoots and whatnot. I actually know a camera inside out. It's just that I don't like taking photos.
P2: Describe an ambition you haven't achieved
Mình ko nhớ dòng gợi ý lắm, mình chỉ dùng 1 phút ghi keywords rồi triển khai ý theo đó, nên mình cũng ko trả lời hết gạch đầu dòng thì phải. Được cầm giấy và note để nói nhé.
Bắt đầu thì đó giờ mình có thói quen đưa ra overall impression của mình về câu hỏi trước khi đưa ra ý chính. 3 lần trước mình 8.5 Speaking cũng vậy.
- I've had a lot of ambitions growing up. When I was a kid, I always dreamed about becoming this and that, doing this and that. Many of them came to nothing and I wouldn't think twice about it. However, there's one ambition that has been on my mind for as long as I remember and that is to launch my own label.

Thì background mình nói về educational background của mình, mình là alumni của Parsons, arguably one of the most prestigious design schools in the world.
on hold —> had to quit my internship in France because of the Covid pandemic. had to move to my partner’s country to be safe.
sustainable và environmentally friendly —> strongly against fast fashion and fully aware of the damages it's caused. want to use sustainable materials, fabrics, and environmentally friendly equipment.
Rana collapse —> a documentary on Netflix about a factory collapse in Bangladesh. I’m pretty sure the name is Rana but don’t quote me on that. It’s been a long time since I last watched that documentary. But what I remember is that it was a sweatshop and the working conditions were horrendous. rồi mình kể 1 số chi tiết mình nhớ về working condition.
Compensate —> workers ở đó chết chỉ được bồi thường 200e thôi —> gut-wrenching and dehumanizing khi lives are treated as commodities. Sau đó mình có nói thêm là mình muốn làm 1 business ethical, workers và family có insurance.

P3: What kinds of ambitions do people usually have?
- Getting a promotion, a raise, a better position, not having to be anyone's subordinate. Mostly work-related, I would say.
Do you think people should have any ambition outside of work?
- Depends on the ambition and how you go about it. If your ambition is to become the best player in a video game and you put hours and hours into it, days and nights into it, I don't think it's a good thing. But if your ambition is to adopt 10-20 dogs or to become the most generous philanthropist, I think it's another story.
What do people usually get from being ambitious?
- other than promotion and more money, I think it's respect. I always respect ambitious people because usually those people know what they want in life and they have a clear objective that they fixate on until they achieve what they want. That's just me, but I believe many people would think the same because that's a very admirable quality to have.
Do you think ambitious people are usually successful?
- It depends on each person, really. For some people, all they do is talk, talk, and talk without putting in the work to do anything. Those people will amount to nothing. And then you have some who really put their heart and soul into getting things done, those will be successful.

- self-confidence và perseverance. Còn giải thích thì mình có giải thích mà giờ mình ko nhớ.
How can being ambitious affect a person's relationships at work?
- negatively. I think it's better to keep it to yourself if you have any ambition at work. Competitiveness is a part of human nature. Some colleagues after knowing your ambition might be like "Oh! That person is trying to outperform me. He is trying to undermine my abilities." and maybe they will do whatever it takes to sabotage your progress out of competitiveness and insecurity.
How does society treat ambitious people?
- It depends on your gender and where you live. Misogyny is still a thing and there are misogynistic people in every society. If you're a woman and you want to be the CEO of a company or the leader of a country, most likely it'll be looked at unfavorably, or even frowned upon because...

- Mình nhớ hôm thi vô tình thấy gk ghi 8.5 vào giấy, lúc ra mình có kể với anh xã, không lẽ 8.5 lần 4. Điểm ra là 8.5 thật 
có người bảo là gk ghi số phút, nên nói cho vui vậy thôi chứ các bạn đừng chú ý quá. Ảnh hưởng tâm lý.

- Phần lớn câu mình đều giải thích và đưa ví dụ. 1-2 câu chỉ có 1 ý và ko nói gì thêm. Nên nếu các bạn có vấp hay sai câu nào đấy cũng đừng lo quá. Cố gắng thể hiện các câu khác tốt hơn, chi tiết hơn. Người ta đánh giá tổng thể chứ ko phải từng câu.
- gk ngắt hay ko ngắt ko quan trọng và ko ảnh hưởng đến điểm đâu. Họ chỉ làm thế để đảm bảo thời gian thôi ý. Năm ngoái mình thi ở BC Warsaw thì bị ngắt mỗi câu luôn, năm nay ko ngắt gì cả. đều Speaking 8.5.
- nhiều khi gk cau mày vì cần tập trung nghe thôi chứ ko phải khó chịu gì đâu, nên các bạn đừng lo quá. Cố gắng bình tĩnh nè.
LISTENING:
P1: Mua tour du lịch đi New Zealand (như 1 trong 2 người accent kiwi hay sao ý. Khó nghe hơn hẳn).
P2: Indoor farming (trồng cây trên rooftop và trong spacecrafts cho astronauts)
P3: Digital immigrants (Có table để match 6 ông chuyên gia nhưng theo thứ tự hết nên khá là dễ)
READING:
P1: Viking warships (T, F, NG, trả lời câu hỏi, và điền từ)
P2: Shoes and social class in the 18th century (đoạn nào có thông tin nào, điền từ)
P3: Group behavior (match chuyên gia này kia, với 2 câu multiple choice và điền từ)
Bất ngờ là họ xáo câu hỏi ngẫu nhiênchứ ko theo từ trên xuống theo bài như trước. Với cả câu hỏi mang tính gài hơn. Mình từng thi CPE / C2 Proficiency thì thấy Reading ở đấy từ vựng cao hơn hẳn nhưng nội dung là khá rõ ràng, còn IELTS từ vựng với mình thì ko khó lắm, nếu có từ lạ thì cũng dễ đoán vì có context. Nhưng thấy gài khá nhiều. Kiểu như ko cẩn thận 1-2 từ sẽ sai luôn cả câu ấy. VD: Câu T, F, NG hỏi là “The original ship found in Ireland was in poor condition.” Cả đoạn chỉ có 1 câu là The remains of the original ship were found in Ireland. Ngoài ra ko có mô tả gì về nó hết. Nhưng mà mình đoán là đề yêu cầu thí phải hiểu từ remains là các phần còn lại, mà tìm thấy toàn vẹn thì ko ai bảo là remains cả. nên câu đó là T.
WRITING:
